Computer Aided Engineering Design, 9781402025556 (1402025556), Springer, 2005
This book amalgamates geometric modelling, analysis and optimization, the three important aspects in Computer Aided Engineering Design. While the three subjects are well developed by themselves, a detailed discussion on engineering visualization (transformations and projections) and mathematical background of free form, parametric and piecewise design of curves and surfaces is provided. A topological basis is given when discussing wireframe, boundary representation and constructive solid geometry as solid modelling techniques. Computational geometry, point membership classification and recent trends on modelling using point cloud data in reverse engineering are also covered in brief. The book provides an introductory treatment on linear elastic finite element analysis using some basic elements and optimization methods ranging from root finding single variable to constrained multi-variable approaches. The book is conceived with an intent to be a text for a semester course.

Safety Design for Space Systems
Safety Design for Space Systems
Progress in space safety lies in the acceptance of safety design and engineering as an integral part of the design and implementation process for new space systems. Safety must be seen as the principle design driver of utmost importance from the outset of the design process, which is only achieved through a culture change that moves all...
Grids, Clouds and Virtualization (Computer Communications and Networks)
Grids, Clouds and Virtualization (Computer Communications and Networks)

Research into grid computing has been driven by the need to solve large-scale, increasingly complex problems for scientific applications. Yet the applications of grid computing for business and casual users did not begin to emerge until the development of the concept of cloud computing, fueled by advances in virtualization techniques, coupled...

Java Programming 24-Hour Trainer (Wrox Programmer to Programmer)
Java Programming 24-Hour Trainer (Wrox Programmer to Programmer)
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to notice the recent serious decline in the publishing of computer books, to say nothing of computer magazines. I enjoy reading books about software and visit the nearby Barnes and Noble at least twice a month. During the last three years the number of bookcases dedicated to computer books...

Handbook of Research on Teaching Literacy Through the Communicative and Visual Arts
Handbook of Research on Teaching Literacy Through the Communicative and Visual Arts
The Handbook of Research on Teaching Literacy Through the Communicative and Visual Arts, a comprehensive overview of research on this topic, extends conceptualizations of literacy to include all of the communicative arts (reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing) and the visual arts of drama, dance, film, art, video, and computer...
Handbook of Operations Research for Homeland Security
Handbook of Operations Research for Homeland Security

This new Handbook addresses the state of the art in the application of operations research models to problems in preventing terrorist attacks, planning and preparing for emergencies, and responding to and recovering from disasters. The purpose of the book is to enlighten policy makers and decision makers about the power of operations research...

Advanced Qt Programming: Creating Great Software with C++ and Qt 4
Advanced Qt Programming: Creating Great Software with C++ and Qt 4

This book is aimed at existing C++/Qt programmers and presents ideas and techniques that are too advanced or specialized (although not necessarily difficult), for a first book on Qt.

Qt has now grown to over 700 classes and well over a million words of documentation, far too much to cover in a single volume. So instead of
