Creating Spatial Information Infrastructures: Towards the Spatial Semantic Web

Buy
The concept of information infrastructures is an important one in many countries and organizations for improving the management of distributed information. Many national and international efforts are ongoing to create such information infrastructures, in parallel with research activities to fi nd answers to the remaining problems when realizing these information infrastructures; for example, what does the information offered by different organizations, within the same infrastructure, actually mean (the semantic aspect)? The focus of this book is on spatial informationwithin a larger information infrastructure. The Introduction of this book will give a general overview of spatial information infrastructures and introduce the other chapters in the book.

This book has its roots in a Bentley BE research seminar with the same title: “Creating Spatial Information Infrastructures: Towards the Spatial Semantic Web,” which was held June 11, 2007, in London. About half of the chapters in this book are related to a presentation at the seminar, and in all cases this was followed by a discussion with the audience. The other half of the chapters are from contributors invited by the editors in order to have a more complete coverage of the subject. Full chapters were reviewed and commented on by at least three other contributors to the book.

Group Theoretical Methods in Image Processing (Lecture Notes in Computer Science)

These Lecture Notes are based on a series of lectures I gave at the Linkoping University Department of Electrical Engineering in 1988. In these lectures 1 tried to give an overview of the theory of representation of compact groups and some applications in the fields of image science and pattern recognition.
