The volume is divided into two sections, one referring to paint and one regarding glass. Each section is written by an expert and covers an introduction to the composition and manufacture of these materials, techniques for characterization, the analytical approach to obtaining information, and an interpretation of that evidence in the context of the forensic cases. Also included are infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray analysis.
