Geocomputation and Urban Planning (Studies in Computational Intelligence)

Buy
Sixteen years ago, Franklin estimated that about 80% of data contain geo-referenced information. To date, the availability of geographic data and information is growing, together with the capacity of users to operate with IT tools and instruments. Spatial data infrastructures are growing and allow a wide number of users to rely on them. This growth has not been fully coupled to an increase of knowledge to support spatial decisions. Spatial analytical techniques, geographical analysis and modelling methods are therefore required to analyse data and to facilitate the decision process at all levels. Old geographical issues can find an answer thanks to new methods and instruments, while new issues are developing, challenging researchers towards new solutions. This volume aims to contribute to the development of new techniques and methods to improve the process of knowledge acquisition. The Geocomputational expression is related to the development and the application of new theories, methods and tools in order to provide better solutions to complex geographical problems. The geocomputational analysis discussed in this volume, could be classified according to three main domains of applications; the first one related to spatial decision support system and to spatial uncertainty, the second connected to artificial intelligence, the third based on all spatial statistics techniques.

The Ultimate Digital Music Guide: The Best Way to Store, Organize, and Play Digital Music
The Ultimate Digital Music Guide: The Best Way to Store, Organize, and Play Digital Music

Iam a music lover. Big time. My wife and I try to catch at least one or two major shows a month, and I’m an “A Train” member of and frequent visitor to our local jazz club. (That’s the Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis, one of the best in the nation.) I have more than 1,700 albums in my music collection, or more than...

Google Advertising Tools: Cashing in with AdSense and AdWords (Animal Guide)
Google Advertising Tools: Cashing in with AdSense and AdWords (Animal Guide)
With this book, you'll learn how to take full advantage of Google AdWords and AdSense, the sophisticated online advertising tools used by thousands of large and small businesses. Internet Networks: Wired, Wireless, and Optical Technologies (Devices, Circuits, and Systems)
Internet Networks: Wired, Wireless, and Optical Technologies (Devices, Circuits, and Systems)

In the not too distant future, internet access will be dominated by wireless networks. With that, wireless edge using optical core next-generation networks will become as ubiquitous as traditional telephone networks. This means that telecom engineers, chip designers, and engineering students must prepare to meet the challenges and...

Dependency Structures and Lexicalized Grammars: An Algebraic Approach
Dependency Structures and Lexicalized Grammars: An Algebraic Approach

This book reports the major results of roughly four years of doctoral research. Among the many people who have contributed to it, there are some to whom I owe a particularly large debt of gratitude.

Since 2002, FoLLI has awarded an annual prize for outstanding dissertations in the fields of Logic, Language and Information. This...

Implementing Voice over IP
Implementing Voice over IP
In general, voice transmission over the Internet protocol (IP), or VoIP, means
transmission of real-time voice signals and associated call control information
over an IP-based (public or private) network. The term IP telephony is commonly
used to specify delivery of a superset of the advanced public switched
telephone network

Enhancing the Performance of Ad Hoc Wireless Networks with Smart Antennas
Enhancing the Performance of Ad Hoc Wireless Networks with Smart Antennas
A large portion of the network capacity of an ad hoc network can be wasted by the medium access mechanisms of omni-directional antennas. To overcome this problem, researchers propose the use of directional or adaptive antennas that largely reduce radio interference, improving the utilization of wireless medium and the resulting network throughput....
