The word “distributed” simply implies that parts of the application are separated from each other. This may be because they reside on different physical machines (whether in the same room or across an international network) or because they split the application logic into a number of components that work independently toward a common goal.

The word “global” indicates that the application is accessible from a variety of geographical locations. This does not necessarily mean on a planetary scale, although that may well be the case. It simply means that the application is accessible to users irrespective of where they are. They may be located in the U.S. alone, Europe alone, Asia alone, or anywhere else in the world.
