Handbook of Research on User Interface Design and Evaluation for Mobile Technology

Buy
In recent years, mobile technology has been one of the major growth areas in computing. Designing the user interface for mobile applications, however, is a very complex undertaking which is made even more challenging by the rapid technological developments in mobile hardware. Mobile human-computer interaction, unlike desktop-based interaction, must be cognizant of a variety of complex contextual factors affecting both users and technology.

The Handbook of Research on User Interface Design and Evaluation provides students, researchers, educators, and practitioners with a compendium of research on the key issues surrounding the design and evaluation of mobile user interfaces, such as the physical environment and social context in which a mobile device is being used and the impact of multitasking behavior typically exhibited by mobile-device users. Compiling the expertise of over 150 leading experts from 26 countries, this exemplary reference tool will make an indispensable addition to every library collection.

About the Author

Joanna Lumsden, Ph.D., is a researcher with the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) and is the lab manager for a state-of-the-art mobile human computer interaction (HCI) evaluation lab within the NRC facility. Dr. Lumsden is also an adjunct professor with the Faculty of computer science at the University of New Brunswick (Canada) where she both teaches and supervises student research. Dr. Lumsden obtained her BSc in software engineering (Hons) from the University of Glasgow (Scotland,1996) where she also later achieved her PhD in HCI (2001). Her research interests and expertise are mainly in mobile HCI and associated evaluation techniques. She has served on program committees for several international HCI/general computer science conferences.

Computational Methods to Study the Structure and Dynamics of Biomolecules and Biomolecular Processes: From Bioinformatics to Molecular Quantum Mechanics (Springer Series in Bio-/Neuroinformatics)
Computational Methods to Study the Structure and Dynamics of Biomolecules and Biomolecular Processes: From Bioinformatics to Molecular Quantum Mechanics (Springer Series in Bio-/Neuroinformatics)

Since the second half of the 20th century machine computations have played a critical role in science and engineering. Computer-based techniques have become especially important in molecular biology, since they often represent the only viable way to gain insights into the behavior of a biological system as a whole. The complexity of...

Mathematical Modeling for Complex Fluids and Flows
Mathematical Modeling for Complex Fluids and Flows

Mathematical Modeling for Complex Fluids and Flows provides researchers and engineering practitioners encountering fluid flows with state-of-the-art knowledge in continuum concepts and associated fluid dynamics. In doing so it supplies the means to design mathematical models of these flows that adequately express the engineering physics...
