Macroscopic Models for Vehicular Flows and Crowd Dynamics: Theory and Applications: Classical and Non–Classical Advanced Mathematics for Real Life Applications (Understanding Complex Systems)

Buy

This monograph presents a systematic treatment of the theory for hyperbolic conservation laws and their applications to vehicular traffics and crowd dynamics. In the first part of the book, the author presents very basic considerations and gradually introduces the mathematical tools necessary to describe and understand the mathematical models developed in the following parts focusing on vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The book is a self-contained valuable resource for advanced courses in mathematical modeling, physics and civil engineering. A number of examples and figures facilitate a better understanding of the underlying concepts and motivations for the students. Important new techniques are presented, in particular the wave front tracking algorithm, the operator splitting approach, the non-classical theory of conservation laws and the constrained problems. This book is the first to present a comprehensive account of these fundamental new mathematical advances.

Linux Made Easy: The Official Guide to Xandros 3 for Everyday Users
Linux is an operating system, just like Windows or Mac OS. If you're looking at this book, you're probably somewhat of a Linux newbie. Maybe you're a Windows refugee--you just can't take it anymore or you want to stop paying through the nose for software and the latest buggy upgrade. Or you just want to try something new.

Introduction to Search with Sphinx: From installation to relevance tuning
Introduction to Search with Sphinx: From installation to relevance tuning

I can’t quite believe it, but just 10 years ago there was no Google.

Other web search engines were around back then, such as AltaVista, HotBot, Inktomi, and AllTheWeb, among others. So the stunningly swift ascendance of Google can settle in my mind, given some effort. But what’s even more unbelievable is that...

Proven Portals: Best Practices for Planning, Designing, and Developing Enterprise Portals (Addison-Wesley Information Technology Series)
Proven Portals: Best Practices for Planning, Designing, and Developing Enterprise Portals (Addison-Wesley Information Technology Series)
If you need to plan, design, or deploy an enterprise portal this book is for you. Initiating a portal project (or rescuing one under way) is an exciting, sometimes daunting, challenge. Fortunately, the craft of portal design is now mature enough to identify the best practices that lead to successful implementations. Examples of those...

Information Architecture for the World Wide Web: Designing Large-scale Web Sites
Information Architecture for the World Wide Web: Designing Large-scale Web Sites

Some web sites "work" and some don't. Good web site consultants know that you can't just jump in and start writing HTML, the same way you can't build a house by just pouring a foundation and putting up some walls. You need to know who will be using the site, and what they'll be using it for. You need some...
